The NAWD Objective Judging Scale

Judging scaleWe encourage our judges to use the NAWD Objective Judging Scale. 

The scale was developed by Dr. Andrew Mclean, PHD. of Equitation Science International (esi-education.com). It is built on the training pyramid. 

The scale is a prominent component of the Ranch Horse Program and it’s classes. 

Common ground is found between competitor and judge, as both sides are guided by the scale. The competitor has a clear idea what is needed to gain a certain score, and the judge has a clear way of rewarding the correctness of horse and rider.
